.Take 10 minutes– Someone once suggested to me that I should just lay down for 10 minutes a day. The goal is to be completely still, including your mind. That means no background noise, no thinking, no moving around. Just being. It’s hard, but it really helps to de-stress and clear your mind and relax your body
.Get something done– This may seem like it would make you more stressed, but hear me out. Sometimes I get stressed because I feel like I’ve been lying around and haven’t been productive. I find that doing something simple, like running a load of laundry or organizing a couple of drawers usually makes me feel better.
.Oils– Aromatherapy, specifically essential oils, is widely used to decrease stress. Scents like lavender, chamomile, and rose are good ones to try. Plus, they smell great.
.Go outside– Even though it may not seem like fun, getting outside even for a short walk can feel so good. Fresh air and exercise can a lot of times do the trick for getting out of your head and taking a breather.
.Meditate on perspective– Take a minute to just think about the big picture. Yeah, you may have a hard test tomorrow, but that test score does not define you in the long run. Or maybe you have a race this weekend that you don’t feel prepared for. Run the rest of the week to ease your mind, and remember that no matter your race results, that does not define who you are as a person.
